Consultant Optical Systems Engineer

I am Ron Gibbs of Gibbs Associates, an independent optical engineering consultancy specialising in helping clients to design and develop advanced optical, electro-optical and optical scanning systems. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and the services I offer to businesses involved in this exciting and challenging technology.

Before I started my consultancy business in 1993, I had worked for eighteen years on the design and development of laser and electro-optical systems within various companies. Most recently I was at Crosfield Electronics Ltd., a world-leading manufacturer of high-performance scanning systems for the commercial printing industry, where I was Head of Optical and Mechanical Engineering. Since then, I have acted as optical engineering consultant on projects that included developments of white LED lighting systems, advanced optical biosensors, laser scanning microscopes, laser platesetters, large-format colour scanners, digital photographic printers, telecine scanners and laser display systems. My clients have included manufacturers of electro-optical systems and components in the UK, Europe and USA
